Freddy
Shaw

Bass-baritone

Aspiring opera singer Freddy Shaw has always been an avid music lover: he couldn’t wait any longer to learn the piano at six years old. This hereditary love only grew when he was left awestruck on hearing an older singer during a school talent show – he soon after began undertaking singing lessons in 2012, later joining the esteemed Sydney Children’s Choir in 2016. In 2017 he was accepted into the ConservatoriumHighSchool to study piano, voice and alto saxophone. Through these two handy connections, he was granted the opportunity to participate in the children’s chorus of Opera Australia’s King Roger in 2017. The following year, Freddy played the role of Joas in Pinchgut’s production of Handel’s Athalia shortly before he became a bass-baritone. Freddy sings regularly at a variety of church choirs around Sydney, and is currently in his second year of a Bachelor of Music (Classical Voice) at the Sydney Conservatorium with the support of the Chapple / Bremner Scholarship and the Conservatorium Association Scholarship, studying under BarryRyan OAM

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we work and perform, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation – the first storytellers and singers of songs.
We pay our respects to their elders past and present.
