Soprano

Soprano Morgan Balfour has been praised for her “thrilling clarity” (Sydney Morning Herald)
and “impressive vocal control and dynamic sensitivity” (San Francisco Classical Voice).
Recently, Morgan made her solo debut with the San Francisco Symphony in Bach’s
Magnificat, under the baton of Dame Jane Glover. Other recent performances of note
include the role of Cephise in Rameau’s Pigmalion with American Bach Soloists, and soprano
soloist in Bach’s Mass in B Minor with the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart's JSB
Ensemble.

In the United States where she currently resides, Morgan has appeared as a featured soloist
with Cantata Collective, California Bach Society, San Francisco Bach Choir, Madison Bach
Musicians, Masterworks Chorale, and was a 2022 Carmel Bach Festival Virginia Best Adams
Fellow.

Previously, Morgan performed with Pinchgut Opera in their 2017 triple bill, Rameau:
Anacreon & Pigmalion. Other Australian appearances include a tour with Australian
Brandenburg Orchestra for their 2019 Noël Noël concerts, performing in R.V. Williams’
Serenade to Music with Sydney Philharmonia, joining Canberra Symphony Orchestra as the
featured soloist for their Prom’s Concert and singing with the Brisbane Baroque Festival in
Purcell’s King Arthur.

Her operatic credits include: Puccini’s La Boheme (Musetta), Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte
(Pamina), Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna), Handel’s Rodelinda (Rodelinda), Tom
Cipullo’s Glory Denied (Younger Alyce), Verdi’s La Traviata (Annina) and Handel’s Atalanta
(Meleagro).

Morgan was the 2019 Handel Aria Competition First Prize Winner, 2022 Lyndon Woodside
Oratorio Esther Korshin Award Winner and 2021 Colorado Bach Ensemble Second Prize
Winner. She is a proud recipient of the Amelia Joscelyne Memorial Scholarship from the
Melba Opera Trust, and was a Resident Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City for their
2019/2020 season.
