Mezzo-soprano

Olivia Payne, Mezzo-Soprano, has a Bachelor of Music Performance (Classical Voice) and a Masters of Music Studies (Opera Performance) through the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She also attained an ATCL Diploma through Trinity College London.

With the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Olivia performed the roles of La Libelulle (L’Enfant et les Sortilèges), Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte). In 2021, she made her debut with Pinchgut Opera in the small chorus of The Loves of Apollo and Dafne then performed again with the chorus in Charpentier’s Médée in 2022. Other roles include Nancy in Pacific Opera’s production of Albert Herring and Karen in the new recorded Australian Opera, Percy.

In 2022, Olivia made her debut with Cantillation and Sydney Symphony Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream under the baton of Simone Young. She also sang with the Young Stars of Australian Opera at Carols in the Domain.

In 2023, Olivia was a Young Artist with Opera Queensland which saw her feature as a soloist in their Sunset Opera Series as well as cover the role of Dorabella and perform with the chorus in Così fan tutte. 2023 also saw Olivia named the new Taryn Fiebig Scholar with Pinchgut Opera. This two-year engagement began with her performing in the company’s production of Rinaldo as a Siren/Armida’s Attendant. Olivia also sang with Cantillation in Pinchgut’s recent performances of Theodora in Concert.

Olivia will perform with Pinchgut Opera in Dido and Aeneas and their Eternal Light concerts later this year.
