His opera engagements have included appearances with the Royal Opera - Cavalli’s L’Ormindo (title role); Nationale Reisopera - Gluck’sOrphée et Euridyce (title role); Glyndebourne Festival Opera (Purcell and Rameau); English National Opera (Monteverdi), Theater St Gallen (Purcell),  Théâtre de Métropole, Metz (Purcell),  Opéra de Dijon and Opéra de Lille  (Charpentier) and  Centro Cultural Universitario, Mexico City - (Britten). In concert he has sung Hippolyte Hippolyte et Aricie with Ensemble Pygmalion / Raphaël Pichon and Abaris Les Boréades with Les Musiciens de Louvre Grenoble / Marc Minkowski.

 On the concert platform Samuel has appeared with many highly-regarded period ensembles as well as symphony and chamber orchestras: Bavarian RadioSymphony Orchestra / Antonini Gabrieli Consort / Paul McCreesh, Ex Cathedra / Jeffrey Skidmore, the Royal Northern Sinfonia /Thomas Zehetmair, Scottish Chamber Orchestra / Egarr Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra/ Nicholas Kraemer, Les Arts Florissants / Jonathan Cohen, BBC Symphony Orchestra / John Storgards, Sakari Oramo and Giancarlo Guerro; Frankfurt Radio Orchestra / Haïm; Collegium Vocale Gent / Philippe Herreweghe.

In current recital programmes performs lute song repertoire with Paula Chateaueuf and Britten, Fauré, Debussy and Hahn with Iris Torossian, harp. Samuel’s growing discography encompasses works by Monteverdi, Charpentier, Daniel Purcell, Rameau, Bach alongside Tansy Davies and Alec Roth on Hyperion, Erato, Archiv, OAE Released, Nimbus, Resonus Classics, NMC and Signum.

 Samuel’s current season’s engagements include Berlioz Romeo et Juliette with the BBC Symphony Orchestra / Sir Andrew Davis for Chandos; Handel at the Salzburg Mozart Week / Minkowski and Bach with the Wiener Akademie / Haselböck. Further ahead he will appear with Les Arts Florissants (Handel) and the Rotterdam Philharmonic (Bach) plus the Royal Opera, Covent Garden,  Dutch National Opera, Opera de Lyon and Hamburg State Opera (world première) .
