Choreographer
Shannon Burns is a Sydney based creative specialising in choreography and movement direction.

Previous work with Pinchgut Opera includes Giustino (2023), Pleasures of Versailles (2023), Orontea (2022), Platée (2021) and A Delicate Fire (2020). Shannon choreographed La Traviata on Sydney Harbour (2021) and Carmen on Cockatoo Island (2022) for Opera Australia. She was Movement Director on Victorian Opera’s Melbourne, Cheremushki (2023) and Assistant Director on Il Tabarro (2024) a co-production between Sydney Festival and VO. Shannon choreographed a staging of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire for the Berlin Philharmonic (2024) and The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra’s Inferno (2023)

More choreographic credits include Hayes Theatre Company’s acclaimed productions of Murder for Two (2023) and A Little Night Music (2023), A Kurt Weill double bill of The Seven Deadly Sins and Mahagonny Sonspiel (2022) Red Line Productions, Send For Nellie (2024) Sydney Festival and  Ratburger (2024) CDP Theatre Producers. Shannon has worked on large scale events with featured choreography in the Netball World Cup Opening Ceremony (2015) and on the choreographic team for the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup Opening Ceremony with Newground Collective (2020)

Before transitioning to choreography, Shannon worked extensively as a dancer in Stage, Film, Television and Major Events across the globe. She studied ballet full-time at the Queensland Dance School of Excellence and Performing Arts at ED5INTERNATIONAL.
