Simone Romaniuk is a live performance designer who works extensively across theatre, opera, festivals and immersive events in Australia and the UK.

Simone Romaniuk is a live performance designer for theatre, opera and festivals. Her work
has been seen around Australia, New Zealand and the UK with companies including
Queensland Theatre, State Opera South Australia, Opera Queensland, NZ Opera, Pacific Opera, Sydney Theatre Company, Ensemble Theatre, Brisbane Festival and Adelaide Festival Centre’s OzAsia Festival.

Opera set and costume designs include: for State Opera South Australia: La boheme,
Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, Love Burns, Boojum!; for Queensland Conservatorium:
Iolanthe; for Royal Northern College of Music: La Vie Parisienne; for Pacific Opera: La
Sonnambula, Hansel and Gretel; for Opera Queensland: The Mikado, The Merry Widow,
Space Encounters, The Magic Flute.

Theatre set and costume designs include: for Queensland Theatre: Tiny Beautiful Things, The

Simone was Creative Director of Adelaide Festival Centre’s OzAsia Festival and Moon
Lantern Parade from 2015 – 2019, which was shortlisted twice in the Australian Production
Design Guild awards and won Best Major Festival at the South Australian Tourism Awards
2019. She was Festival Designer for Brisbane Festival in 2013 and designed the Southbank
precinct as well as the Theatre Republic precinct.

In 2012, Simone was Resident Designer with Queensland Theatre and prior to that was an
affiliate artist with the company. She has won four Matilda awards for Queensland Theatre
productions.

Simone holds a Bachelor of 3D Design from Queensland College of Art and a Bachelor of
Dramatic Art (Design) from NIDA.
